To control costs, some clients may prefer the DIY method and get raw scans.  The prices for these are what you see listed.  My full range scan files will seem to be visually flat which is done on purpose as these scan files capture the full range of tones on the film. The client will modify the contrast and densities to their liking.  I make a full range scan to ensure that the you have the maximum amount of image information to work with.  The files can be uncompressed TIFF files or Photoshop (.psd).

I take care of basic dust cleanup and cropping and leave you with some of the base+fog area.  This ensures you have all the image area possible and no image is cropped out.  The dust cleanup I perform is basic so there will be some dust.  Scans are sent on DVD or CD.

Example of finished scan with adjustment layers and dust cleanup.

Some clients will prefer that I do the work for them and provide finished scans.  My fee is $60 an hour for this service in addition to the scanning fee.  Due to the nature of images, it is impossible to predict the costs.  Some film I receive has been poorly stored requiring a lot of work.  Other images are very easy to deal with.

In the example above, I've put an hour or so into clean up and correcting the contrast with multiple adjustment layers.   My goal was to bring out more shadow detail while maintaining highlight detail than is possible with silver printing.  A finished scan like this is ready to be made into a digital negative or be printed digitally.

The raw scan, the adjusted scan with layers, and a flattened tiff scan are provided.  This allows for fine tuning by the client or his suppliers if needed.
